Addiction Unit

At MIND, we have been dedicated to caring for individuals struggling with addiction and substance abuse since our inception. Drawing from our extensive experience, we continually refine our specialized services to offer the most effective evidence-based treatments in a conducive environment.
Through our collaboration with our sister organization, The Institute of Development, Research, Advocacy, and Applied Care (IDRAAC), we stay at the forefront of understanding substance abuse epidemiology in Lebanon and the Arab world. This enables us to tailor our services to meet the specific needs of our community.
Our team of addiction mental health specialists, including psychiatrists and psychologists, is committed to providing comprehensive clinical care for individuals battling addiction disorders. We recognize that addiction manifests in various forms, often characterized by repetitive behaviors fueled by the ingestion of psychoactive substances such as alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, marijuana, and others, along with addictive behaviors like pathological gambling.
At MIND, we adopt a bio-psycho-social approach to treatment. This involves a thorough assessment followed by the development of a personalized treatment plan, which may include pharmacological interventions alongside therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Our treatment options include:

- Pharmacological treatment complemented by therapeutic interventions
- Opiate Substitution Treatment (OST)
- Inpatient treatment for detoxification and rehabilitation
- Outpatient rehabilitation programs (including individual and group therapy)
- Connection to inpatient rehabilitation centers

Psychology Unit

At MIND, we are committed to providing comprehensive psychotherapy and medical services while also nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals. Since 1981, we have been pioneers in Lebanon, integrating psychiatry and clinical psychology specialties within the same department. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates to offer holistic care tailored to each client's unique needs.

We were among the first in Lebanon to introduce Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a highly validated evidence-based intervention for mental disorders. Partnering with esteemed institutions like the Academy of Cognitive Therapy in the US and the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Center in the UK, we continually advance the field of psychological treatment.

Our therapeutic services address a wide range of pathologies, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based specialized psychological treatments for various psychological difficulties, incorporating meta-cognitive approaches, trauma-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to optimize outcomes.

We recognize the importance of individualized treatment and offer psychotherapy alone or in combination with pharmacotherapy, provided on both outpatient and inpatient bases as needed. Our cognitive behavior approach tailors formulations for each psychiatric disorder, emphasizing collaborative goal-setting and intervention selection.

At the core of our practice is building trust and rapport with clients, demonstrating empathy, and fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Our priority is to empower clients to achieve long-term well-being through continuous learning and gains retention, all within a safe and confidential environment.

Memory Unit

The Memory Clinic at MIND is dedicated to evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals experiencing memory problems. We understand the importance of early identification and intervention, as memory issues can signify underlying conditions that require attention.

While some degree of memory decline is expected with aging, it's essential to recognize that memory problems are not normal at any age. Our qualified physicians specialize in distinguishing between memory loss associated with aging and symptoms indicative of more serious diseases.

Our Memory Unit offers comprehensive evaluation services, including:

- Collateral information gathering from caregivers, with the client's approval.
- Extensive interviews conducted by trained psychiatric nurses, psychologists, and American board-certified geriatric and adult psychiatrists.
- Neuropsychological testing tailored to the client's specific illness and symptoms.
- Identification and treatment of reversible causes of memory loss.
- Blood testing and brain imaging.
- Consultation with geriatricians, neurologists, and other specialists as needed.
- Education for both clients and caregivers to better understand memory issues.
- Access to a 24-hour hotline for support and assistance.
